Yes, that's right. I've been reduced to using cheesy internet acronyms. I've been beaten down by the slough of useless junk coming from the US House of Representatives. I've been trying to finalize the improvements to the Worst Offenders List, but I've been spending so much time keeping track of this garbage that I haven't had a chance to finish it. Here's what I'm talking about:
House Resolution 110: Congratulating the National Football League champion Pittsburgh Steelers for winning Super Bowl XLIII and becoming the most successful franchise in NFL history with their record 6th Super Bowl title.
House Resolution 112: Supporting the goals and ideals of American Heart Month and National Wear Red Day.
House Resolution 139: Commemorating the life and legacy of President Abraham Lincoln on the bicentennial of his birth.
House Bill 663: To designate the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 12877 Broad Street in Sparta, Georgia, as the "Yvonne Ingram-Ephraim Post Office Building".
Football? Again? Really? Come on, guys, don't you have anything better to do? And don't even get me started on Lincoln's birthday. Yeah, let's honor a guy who did so much for the country by wasting a little bit more time in his name. I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate the things I would like to see happen: I would like to see senators and representatives vote present on these useless items in protest. I would like to see them refrain from all their useless lofty speeches (more on that soon). I would like to see people begin to pay attention to how much time their congresspeople waste on this junk and vote accordingly.
But everyone has to start small, right?
